quite the celebration

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Celebration is the word that comes to mind when I think back to Gaby and Kim’s wedding day.  From the moment I showed up at the hotel to photograph Kim and the ladies getting ready until the bubbles were blown at the end of the reception it was celebration of family, of friends and most of all love.  I wish nothing but the best for you two; enjoy every minute of your lives together…

black thumb turned green?

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I keep hoping that it is possible to turn a black thumb green, or at least partially green, a sliver of green or maybe for it to just look slightly green when held in the correct lighting. You see I kill plants, yup it’s a truth that I am ashamed to admit.  I love them in all of their beautiful spring time glory, I get excited that they are in my house and then one day when I walk into the kitchen I think oh crud I killed another one!  Either way I keep trying to get them to survive in our house and outside on our front step, maybe one day I will be successful…

Take a look at one of my latest victims so pretty in both morning light and full sun…

this one is not a victim of anything but my camera; he can make anything cute!!

Feel free to offer up any suggestions you have on my whole thumb situation :-)

Ginny’s Orchids

Friday, September 18th, 2009

I have a secret to share… lean in closely since I don’t want to say this too loudly and jinx it.  I have an orchid in my kitchen near the sink by the window and it looks so great!  Big deal you’re thinking, I am sure.  Let me say now that I have a “black thumb” really, I am not exaggerating at all.  I have the gift for killing all things green that enter my home- except for this orchid!  It has been living here with us for two plus weeks and it still looks great, and it even opened another bloom since being here with me.  I know it’s crazy, even I don’t understand it but this flower is thriving and it makes me happy every day when I see it!

Where did I get this amazing orchid you ask?  From Ginny’s Orchids no less!  Ginny’s Orchids is a Winter Park Farmers Market regular and when Jamie and I were at the market a few weeks ago (check out the pictures here) we had the great opportunity to photograph these flowers.  They have the most beautiful orchids imaginable in all sorts of cool and interesting arrangements!  Really if you want an amazing gift check them out…
